About the Program

Pedagogical Partner Support is a ministry-sponsored initiative provided at no cost to programs to support the learning and implementation of Flight: Alberta’s Early Learning and Care Framework. Pedagogical Partners (PPs) are consultants contracted by ARCQE who work alongside educators and administrators to guide and support each program’s unique Flight journey. PPs can support programs in various areas related to Flight’s core concepts such as emergent planning, pedagogical documentation, creating responsive environments, etc.

How is Support Delivered

Pedagogical Partners (PPs) work in person and virtually with each program over a period of three years. Partners will initially connect with the program leader to build a relationship and identify the unique needs of their program. Alongside the program leader, the PP will identify educators with a foundational knowledge of Flight who can be supported in putting their theoretical knowledge into practice. These educators will become the program’s “core team”.

For the first two years of support, the PP will spend 4 hours per month guiding the core team’s exploration of Flight through observation, dialogue, and reflection. In the third and final year programs will receive 8 hours of support from their PP to develop a Professional Learning Plan that will guide them in continuing their Flight practices independently. Programs that have engaged in Pedagogical Partner Support are also invited to join Practice-based Learning Communities (PLCs) each year to connect with a community of co-learners to support ongoing learning.
